The economic condition of Pakistan looks better during 2016-17 as compared to 2011, when I last visited to Pakistan, said Kristalina I. Georgieva, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) WB Group of IBRD/IDA during her visit to Pakistan and giving remarks after the meeting with PM.
The investment opportunities are now open and the environment of investment is fruitful now for foreign investors, she added.
A delegation of World Bank currently visiting Pakistan meet with PM in PM house the applauded the Pakistan progress and also appraised the PM for his personal intentions to the economics of Pakistan.
She also visited the Tarbela Hydropower extension project and saw positive changes in Pakistan and applauded that Pakistan had a great progress in energy and infrastructure sector.
PM also received the message of WB president in which he said that Pakistan has achieved the political and economic stability and also improved security issues during the PM Nawaz Sharif’s tenure, that’s why Pakistan achieved No. 1 progressing country in Asia.
PM also discussed with WB’s delegation the issue of Water between India and Pakistan and recently constructs India’s hydropower plants and violation of Indus Water Traty (IWT) 1960, in which WB is a guarantor.
PM thanks to delegation for visiting Pakistan and also appraised the WB partnership with Pakistan in infrastructure, water and energy sectors.
PM promises the delegation that the progress of economic of Pakistan is continuing as the present to forward.
PM also thanks to WB for contribution of TDPs issues and conveyed that the process of returning of TDPs in running on fast track.
PM demanded to WB that its support is much needed in the energy, social protection and infrastructure sector and also needs big investments in these sectors and various other sectors and he promised that the he also brings structural reforms and keep on track the economic growth of Pakistan.
