Is the merger of FATA in KPK in favor of Tribal Areas? This is the question which is hot now a days in media.
As the rumors are spreading that the govt prepared a plan to merge the FATA in KPK and according to sources the govt has started the work on legislation that will be presented in the next federal cabinet meeting.
PM also explain the federal cabinet about the merger of FATA with KPK.
The sources said that after the approval of merger, the law ministry will be prepared the draft of bill which will be later presented in the house of parliament for sanction.
PM also talked about merger with the govt alliance party JUI-F and taking him confidence about the FATA merger in KPK.
According to the merger, the FATA will operate under the KPK govt through amendments to the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR).
The proposed merger suggests that an annual grant of Rs100 billion will also approve for the FATA development and this amount will be given by federal govt.
Currently the system which is running in FATA is the FCR, which is based on British-era law and is against the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan.
After the merger approved, the jurisdiction of supreme court and high courts will be extended by amending the article 247 of constitution of Pakistan.
A resolution in the favor of FATA merger in KPK is already presented in KPK assembly so the provincial govt is not a hurdle in the way of merger.
All political parties of Pakistan including Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Awami National Party (ANP) are already agreed for the merger of FATA in KPK.
The resolution which was presented in KPK assembly on December 14, 2016 explained that the merger will assist to rehabilitated and reconstruct the infrastructure of FATA and also communications, powerlines, water supply, education, health facilities and other basics human rights which the people of FATA currently deprived.
