As the members from the treasury benches termed the budget proposals balanced and pro-poor, the opposition rejected the federal budget saying the government failed to present a national budget while missing all the set budgetary targets.
The opposition members also came harsh on the government for not announcing NFC Award and not appointing a full-fledged foreign minister.
Dr. Shireen Mazari of PTI also proposed names of PML-N members like Khusroo Bakhtiar and Danial Aziz who could be appointed foreign ministers if the government had no other people for slot.
She said that in absence of a foreign minister, the Pakistan government had not been able to take up many foreign issues properly, in this connection, she referred to Afghan forces firing at Pakistani posts.
Dr. Shireen Mazari said government should take procedures for the safety of women rights.
She also accused the government of bringing about financial discipline in the country.
Countering criticism of the opposition member, the PML-N female parliamentarian Farhana Qammar applauded the finance minister on presenting pro-people and pro-economy budget.
She praised government’s actions for ornamental revenue collection accumulation that 21 percent increase in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) was a good step.
Imran Zafar Leghari of PPP said that additional resources should be assigned for the under established areas of the state.
He said that PML-N government had abortive to accomplish the promises the party had made with the people during elections.
Waheed Alam Khan said relief had been provided to all segments of the society.
Dr. Muhammad Afzal Khan described the budget as labour, people and farmers friendly.
Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherparo criticized the government for not announcing the NFC Award.
