Awami National Party (ANP) leader senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour has said that imposition of Infrastructure Development Cess (IDC) on imports to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would cripple the economy of the province.
Taking to The Truth Pursuit on Sunday, Ilyas Bilour, who heads the businessmen forum and has served as president of the Federation Of Pakistan Chamber Of Commerce And Industry (FPCCI) in the past, said that his party ANP had achieved for the province numerous concessions under the 18th amendment, with which an economic revolution could be brought in the province if the rulers used all these judiciously.
He said the province was producing 500 mmcfd gas and about 60,000 barrels of crude oil per day, but the federal government was not paying he province its share of gas and oil royalty, which he termed the incapacity of the provincial government to achieve its own rights.
Ilyas Bilour asked the provincial government to stop providing both oil and gas to the federal government if it was not going to pay the provinces its due shares.
He said the business community in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was facing countless hardships due to militancy and terror incident in the province, while the federal government, instead of giving it any relief, has imposed more taxes to increase its worries.
